Welcome members. We finished the 2019 California Antique Farm Equipment Show in grand style. We had 60+ IH and Farmall tractors and equipment at the show and on display for visitors to see. We invited Binder Books four weeks ago to attend this show. Owner Jeff Ismail, brought his BB booth and an assortment of manuals for many to buy. We are pleased to say we have 13 new members, most of whom joined at our Tulare Show; another member renewed his membership when he was last a member in 2016.
At our Annual Meeting in Tulare we enjoyed breakfast in the Social Hall. Board members cooked up a tasty meal. We conducted our business and election with 16 members and friends. Carpinteria teacher, Bradley Miles, and his three FFA students provided an overview of their extensive tractor restoration program. Over the last 15 years, with IHC CH14 and our Foundation, the youth have restored 70 tractors. We further gave a review of active projects in Woodland, Wheatland, and Oakdale FFA chapters.
The Chapter 14 booth was busy at the Tulare show selling memberships, merchandise, and providing IHC knowledge. A big thank you to those who assisted; Brent Duxbury and Ceci, Dan Brazil, Corey Stockton, Brent Zappe, Dick and Jim Marshall, and others I may have forgotten. At our booth/ display, we had two restored FFA tractors from Carpinteria and Atascadero FFA chapters.
We invite you to the Rio Linda Farm Days Show, near Sacramento, on Dry Creek Road. This historic farm will host the event in mid-May as it also celebrates 25 years. I remember a planning meeting we attended to launch this event in 1994, and discussed restoring the farm house. Well today, it is a featured event with TV coverage, engine displays, FFA tractors, parades, ROTC opening USA flag ceremony, food vendors, arts/crafts, thousands of adults and school kids, and working field demonstrations where a number of IH Collectors have tested their tractors against a plow or disk. Please join us for a great event.
Coming through Sacramento? Stop in at the California AG Museum located on Hays Lane in Woodland CA and see 100 years of AG history and IH equipment. Easy to find off I-5. Take exit 102.
Headed to Santa Margarita this Memorial Day weekend? We’ll have the Chapter 14 booth run by the Duxburys. The show will be May 24-26, 2019, at 20000 El Camino Real. Come enjoy the daily tractor parade and plowing among the ranch’s 14,000 acres, and assist at our booth.
