We just concluded our 12th annual state show held at the Got to be NC Festival in Raleigh. This year we had 96 exhibits including tractors, trucks, lawn and garden equipment and memorabilia. Our Tractor of the Year belongs to Eason and Martha Brown Lilley. It is a 1979, IH 784 Bright Lightnin’. IH ads for these tractors stated that “Lightnin’ struck the Carolinas twice–first with the tobacco special and second with the Bright Lightnin.” We are very appreciative to the NC Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services for hosting our show again this year.
We are making preparations for our third annual Cub-O-Lina Cubfest which will be at the Mann Farm in Sanford, NC. This year’s fest will celebrate all things Cub, with some other IH goodies making an appearance as well!
At our chapter cookout on Saturday evening of our state show, Mrs. Louise Wall was recognized for her dedicated work as our chapter Treasurer. She recently stepped down after serving in this role for many years. She and her husband Ritchie, are charter members of Chapter 37 and our club would not be what it is without them.
Members are gearing up for Red Power Roundup in Pennsylvania, as well as many local shows throughout North Carolina. Our show season kicks off around July 4 and runs into the fall of the year, so everyone is making repairs, shining paint, and getting ready to share IH heritage with the public.
